From a Fax, to where’s the Facts, to First Factor in Our Great Arithmetic Problem

Good morning, fellow cowards, co-dependents, and fatuous salivators for your fair share of Hope & Change! First, our obligatory blaming, outraging, and whatevering before we once again courageously ‘THAR*she blows’ to today’s whale of an issue.

My friend is to blame! His fax to his Congressman ‘forced me’ to inquire about the facts of immigration, which led me to some factors in what I …in my totally humble brilliance … “discovered”! Wee bee having a Great Arithmetic Problem! Now just to be archaic and out of touch, please for this article suspend our appropriate ways of feeling, and adopt the silly inferior stupid way of rationally using words in their literal meaning, in active voice style [S-V-O], to achieve mutual understanding of the content of this article. IOW, I mean what I say in this article.

First, is a person either employed, or unemployed? Why…no! A person can be unqualified to be employed [e.g. disabled]. A person can be multiply employed [more than 1 job]. A person can be partially employed [not 'full time'…according to a standard definition of full-time]. A person can be several kinds of ‘employed’ but still eligible for benefits as if he were ‘underemployed’ or ‘unemployed’. A person can be ‘too young’ to count but have or not have several kinds of jobs…and in the middle of the counting, his ages changes, and presto, she shoulda been counted! Whew…OK, we’re done!?

Oops…what about all the people our several layers of government have not yet counted…or double counted, as our governments use more than one standard for categories and counting…and many feelings about counting itself. For example, our federal government is counting ‘jobs saved’ by commanding hypothetical extrapolations in the pattern of ‘if this hadn’t happened a job would have been lost’. This counting is getting complicated! So, let’s just count as “unemployed” those who have applied for …unemployment benefits!? And let’s just say that those who have NOT applied, are…quitting, leaving, don’t care about a job, and so forth. I mean…let’s just ignore or estimate them. You know…treat them equally.

So, we’ve counted the number of unemployment benefit applicants and estimated or ignored all “others” to get a total number. How accurate is this number? Well, if you add up people on unemployment benefits, then add X people, what total do you get, and how accurate is that total?

Well, as any nice fair person can see, this is so confusing that we need to find someone to blame because it’s way past time to just move on! It’s the cowardly way…so we, being a nation of cowards…must feel and do as we’re told by better people. You know – be free and have liberty while Celebrating Diversity?

But no, instead my Friend to Blame for Fax Forcing…outrageously imposes yet another large number! He says there are “more than 8 million illegal aliens” holding jobs in the US!

My Friend had the Audacity of Hope to suggest the extremist notion that a non-citizen with a job in the US, has a job that legally belongs in the American job market. Now I’ve heard that Americans don’t want lower or dirty jobs so we need…to continually break laws otherwise Nobody will fill those jobs …except lesser and/or lawbreaking people. Somehow, while just trying to figure out how to add up the unemployed, a whole bunch of people became ‘less’ than American citizens, only fit for ‘lesser’ jobs, and millions of Americans can get unemployment benefits instead of work whenever they feel a job is… beneath them. I feel bad and Somebody must Fix this because all people are created equal!

Well, I just haven’t got the time to go into all the hundreds of thousands of laws and policies and directives and litigation we always make more of to solve our ‘discriminations’ …that just keep growing because [ X ] is to blame and I’ve been kept down and forced. I’m just trying to count…so I have a solution for all us cowardly followers who feel they ‘have a life’.

The Constitution requires a census every 10 years, and 2010 is ten years after our last census in 2000. [applause] I suggest the solution to counting who should not be counted is already available and funded on paper [no small irony these are called 'jobs created']. So, to show our expert and created job counters can count BEFORE they go to the more complex questions about every detail of each citizen’s life…

FIRST, count who should not be counted, then MAINTAIN an accurate count by subtracting those who leave and adding those who enter illegally. AFTER our government demonstrates it can accurately add and subtract ONE SINGLE FACTOR, THEN…perhaps we could teach the algebra of counting using more factors than “is he or isn’t he”?

Wouldn’t it be exciting, to SEE progress by arithmetic…instead of hoping and changing and redistributing and rebranding…just sayings? Just imagine if we could graduate past 3rd grade arithmetic to…such interesting factors as a neighborhood kid asked me last week: “are all jobs the same”? But FIRST, dear elites in government – show us you can come to our sense-us.
