Why I’m Leery of Mr O’Leary’s Cow….

Now Kevin O’Leary, intrepid reporter of a great metropolitan periodical, hath Cowed US Cowards with Honest Totallies in His TIME Article, “Arizona Illegal-Immigrant Law Draws Strong Opposition” [see Ref]. Real all about Mr O’Leary’s Cow first! Then, perhaps, reed this Cowardly retort by an Inappropriate Nobody!

Mr O’Leary’s Cow Sayeth: [SB1070] “will give local police sweeping new powers in regard to undocumented workers.”
FACT: SB1070 asserts the radical concept that…enforcing the law requires the usual powers to…enforce the law. The “sweeping new power”…is the usual police power of asking ANY person for ID. Mr O’Leary’s irrational assertion that this is “in regard to undocumented workers” rationally suggests Mr O’Leary’s bias about Mr O’Leary’s omniscience about the singular intentions of every policeman, government official, and employer.

Mr O’Leary’s Cow Sayeth: “Currently, immigration offenses are violations of federal, not state, law, and local police officers only can inquire about a person’s immigration status if that person is suspected of another crime. Under SB1070, however, Arizona police will have the right to stop anyone on “reasonable suspicion” that they may be an illegal immigrant and can arrest them if they are not carrying a valid driver’s license or identity papers.”
FACT: Don’t all laws depend on “reasonable” perceptions by law enforcers? Isn’t “I’m right” enforcement of the best law…wrong? Mr O’Leary’s ends justify his means? Mr O’Leary illustrates why “the ends justify the means” are ANATHEMA to liberty.
QUESTIONS: What don’t you understand about ‘being in Arizona illegally…is illegal’? What don’t you understand about police enforcing the law? What don’t you understand about the citizen’s obligation in common law and precedent…to report a crime?

O’LEARY THEORY: “Passions about illegal immigration run high…”
THEORY: human ‘passions’ are precisely why Justice is [supposed to be] Blind.
O’LEARY THEORY: If you are “passionate about an illegality”…then the illegality becomes whatever you feel about it? Like, from “illegal” to “undocumented”? From person…to tissue? From white…to rainbow? From person…to ‘special group’?
FACT: Arizona, says O’Leary, is “a point of entry for thousands of undocumented workers going to the U.S. from Mexico”.
O’LEARY THEORY: inflame passions by sayin’ “rampant” and mentioning a murder.
FACT: An “estimate”, in O’Leary’s case “6.6 million residents, Arizona’s illegal-immigrant population is estimated to be half a million people” mathmatically means that 8 in 100 people in Arizona are…”illegal”.

O’LEARY THEORY: “Both proponents and opponents of the law are vociferous.”
QUESTION: Noise level…is not law…is it?
FACT. Mr O’Leary quotes Mr Newman, “Legal Director of the National Day Labor Organizing Network”: “This criminalizes undocumented status and turns dishwashers, janitors, landscapers and our neighbors into criminals.”
FACT: Illegal activity is, by definition, “criminal”. Therefore, Mr Newman is either unable to recognize “illegal”…or has “undocumented” what “illegal” is…is.
FACT: jobs are not illegal. For example…Mr Newman…”drug dealer” is illegal…”dishwasher” is not.

O’LEARY THEORY: Mr Newman said, “The bill constitutes a complete disregard for the rights of nonwhites in Arizona. It effectively mandates racial profiling.”
FACT: Neither SB1070 nor any other inanimate thing, “disregards”; people; only people, do people behaviors.

If any person wants to know what is in a bill…simply…READ THE BILL.

FACT: Mr Newman…conjures not only what is not there, but imputes a broad spectrum of illegal activity to all officials and citizens before any fact or behavior. Mr. Newman’s self-anointed omniscience regarding the future and all policemen’s motivations would qualify him as God…or…the innocent victim of a slight delusion of his grandeur.

O’LEARY THEORY: “the Association of Chiefs of Police [are] in opposition, saying it could hinder investigations by making the immigrant community hesitant to speak with police.”
QUESTION: Do Police CHIEFS “speak” with “immigrants” or the “community”? Compared to, say – police officers on the beat?
FACT of REASON: Each individual police officer and person determine their relationship… not some “hindering” reporter’s or SomeBody Special’s profiled jest sayin’.

O’LEARY QUOTES state senator Russell Pearce: [SB1070] “will not change a thing for lawful citizens. It simply takes the handcuffs off law enforcement and allows them to do their job. Our legal citizens have a constitutional right to expect protection of federal law against noncitizens. When those laws are not enforced, our citizens are denied equal protection.”
QUESTIONS: Why, and what presently “handcuffs law enforcement”? Is it not illegal to fail to enforce the law? Or, can any person ‘enforce’ or ‘comply’ with the law…when they feel like it? Finally, if law enforcement does not enforce Law A, how does making Law B telling them to enforce Law A…make it so?

Summary: Isn’t it “exciting” to read an article where the author self-reveals his biases in his own writing, as he relays ‘expert’ biases in their own quotations? What do all these ‘experts’ … self-anointed elites … have in common … compared to US Cowards?
